Seven Pounds

December 31st, 2008

7poundsGreat movie although kinda depressing for the holidays. Will Smith play an IRS agent that does life changing favors for 7 people which had a vague relation to the title based on some old saying about giving pound of flesh as a good deed or something like that. The director tries to deliver a M. Knight kind of movie but fails to do so. I’m on the fence about this one. I liked it but at the same time there are parts that I didn’t like.

Twilight

December 31st, 2008

twilightWhat can I say, after 4 books that are selling like crazy I had to go see this. To my surprise it really wasn’t much of a vampire movie instead it was more of a chick flick with vampires in it. The girls love it, it’s romantic. Breakfast club with teeth in the begining for me. Anyway good for a saturday afternoon although I did sell a lot of advance tickets for it.

Bolt

December 31st, 2008

boltThis was one of the funniest animations that I have seen in a while. Bolt is a TV canine that doesn’t know that he really isn’t a superhero A.K.A. Buzz Lightyear. But as always there is sone side character that seems to steal the show and that is a maniacal little¬† hamster name Rhino. Go see it even if you don’t have kids, you will enjoy it at any price.

Madagascar Escape 2 Africa

December 31st, 2008

madagascarI didn’t get to see this in 3-D but it might have been better that way. The first movie was better than this sequel but it still was funny in parts just not quite the same as the first. Honestly once again the penguins and the monkeys steal the show again. Take the kids it is a good flick for the matin√©e price.

Nights in Rodanthe

October 6th, 2008

Nicholas Sparks fans will be pleased. The Notebook of 2008. Or so the other reviewers say. I myself hate this kind of movie, chick flick and all. But, and this is big… Dudes, this will score points if you can keep your eyes dry. Go to the bathroom, get some popcorn, Be a man or cry like a baby. Without spoiling the movie it doesn’t have the typical ending. Take the girl to see it, you will be so sensitive and thoughtful.

Eagle Eye

September 30th, 2008

Who in their right mind would have ever thought that Shia LaBeouf would have become a leading man when they saw him as a trouble making little brother on “Even Stevens?” This one suprised me. I really wasn’t expecting anything but another “transformers.” Oh wait, the plots are about the same… Don’t get me going on George of the Jungle and Titanic. Back to the movie, It was great, except for the big slap in the face to the biometrics industry and huge plot hole. [tiny spoiler sorry]. Billy Bob Thornton was my favorite character as a wisecracking agent. Go see it, it is entertaining! BTW, Shia is making an IMAX version of Transformers due out next year.

Lakeview Terrace

September 23rd, 2008

OMG, Go see this. Samuel L Jackson is one bad ass in this movie, not a good guy but bad anyway. Lets just say that he has issues. Set in Oakland during a fire, sparks are flying between neighbors. I thought that I saw Will Smith as one of the producers. Other than Samuel’s acting the rest of the movie actually kinda sucks. see it anyway. One warning if you are a racist stay home. (just kidding).

Burn After Reading

September 21st, 2008

Just because this is a Coen flick doesn’t make it a Fargo or a No Country for Old Men, more like the Ladykillers. I think that it missed the mark a bit. Sure parts are funny, It is dark for sure, Has great stars. But the begining is soooo boring… snore… You can’t honestly compare this to Fargo. matinee pricing for this.

Righteous Kill

September 21st, 2008

Great Movie! How could it not be with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino together. Worth the regular price if you can’t get a super saver at Costco. Even Donna Walburg was good in this flick. OK, so there is a little violence but go see it anyway.

Disaster Movie

September 21st, 2008

Save your money! Disaster Movie was just that, a disaster. Only part of the movie was a parody of disaster movies, the rest poked fun at just about every other genre out there. I don’t recommend this to even the Tom Green crowd.
